SorGSD: updating and expanding the sorghum genome science database with new contents and tools

Abstract Background As the fifth major cereal crop originated from Africa, sorghum ( Sorghum bicolor ) has become a key C 4 model organism for energy plant research. With development of high-throughput detection technologies various omics data, much multi-dimensional and multi-omics information been accumulated sorghum. Integrating this may accelerate genetic research improve molecular breeding agronomic traits. Results We updated Genome SNP Database (SorGSD) by adding new features renamed it to Science (SorGSD). In comparison with original version SorGSD, which contains SNPs 48 accessions mapped reference genome BTx623 (v2.1), was expanded 289 lines both single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) small insertions/deletions (INDELs), were aligned newly assembled annotated (v3.1). Moreover, phenotypic data panicle pictures critical provided in version. implemented tools including ID Conversion, Homologue Search Browser analysis general related research, such as online resources literature references. addition, we deployed database infrastructure redesigned user interface one Variation Map databases. The SorGSD is freely accessible at http://ngdc.cncb.ac.cn/sorgsd/ . Conclusions comprehensive integration large-scale genomic variation, incorporates mining, navigation analysis. hope that could provide valuable resource researchers find variations they are interested generate customized datasets further
